Get to Know YHAI in a Snapshot
A quick overview of what YHAI offers across all levels of outdoor adventure.
Why Travel with YHAI
For nearly eight decades, we have made the outdoors safe, affordable and open to everyone. Here is what sets a YHAI journey apart.
A Non-Profit Movement, Not a Tour Company
YHAI is a registered, member-run non-profit powered by thousands of volunteers. We exist to get young India outdoors - not to maximise profit - so every program is run with heart, not a sales target.
Honest, Unbeatable Pricing
Non-profit, and almost nothing spent on advertising - so our treks, camps and hostel stays are priced for youth of every means. The value YHAI offers is famously hard for any commercial operator to match.
Safety Built Into Every Camp
Trained camp leaders, medical officers, oxygen at high-altitude camps, support vehicles and group insurance come as standard. For high-altitude treks we require a medical fitness certificate - because your wellbeing comes first.
Almost 80 Years of Experience
Since 1949, YHAI has led generations into the Himalaya and beyond. With 23 state branches and 300+ district units, we know India's trails, seasons and base camps like no one else.
A Global Passport to Adventure
As an associate member of Hostelling International, your YHAI card unlocks 4,000+ youth hostels across 90 countries and over 40,000 member discounts worldwide - turning one membership into a lifetime of affordable travel.
More Than a Trip - A Community
Walk alongside people of every age and background, learn through real experience, and join a 1,60,000-strong family that travels responsibly, carries back its waste, and leaves the mountains better than it found them.
