What past participants say
I had always wanted to trek in the Himalayas, and this was the perfect introduction. The sunrise from Chandrashila was beyond anything I had imagined. The trek leaders were encouraging, the arrangements were smooth, and I returned with incredible memories and some lifelong friends.
The Deoriatal lake, the peaceful forests around Chopta, and the climb to Tungnath made every day feel special. I was a little nervous before joining, but YHAI's team made everyone feel comfortable and confident. I'd recommend this trek to anyone who loves nature and adventure.
What stood out for me wasn't just the stunning Himalayan views - it was the spirit of the group. Strangers became teammates, every challenge felt rewarding, and reaching Chandrashila at sunrise was the perfect finale. An exceptionally well-organized trek that I'll happily do again with YHAI.
Overview
The Deoriatal - Chandrashila - Chopta trek starts from Sari village in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand and is famous for the beauty of Deoriatal lake, set at an altitude of 7,800 feet. The route passes through beautiful meadows and a variety of jungle at Deoriatal, opening out at Rohini Bugyal. The forest holds unique biodiversity, refreshing air and mesmerising scenic beauty.
Chopta is among the most beautiful and famous destinations in the region - a true paradise for bird watchers and wildlife photographers, so lovely it is often called the mini Switzerland of India. The many species of birds and the highest Lord Shiva temple, Tungnath, are the main attractions here.
Chandrashila Peak is well known for its 360-degree view of the mighty Himalayas, including Nanda Devi, Mt. Nandani Parwat, Mt. Janhukut, Mt. Chaukhamba and other unnamed peaks.
