For trekkers who want the beauty of the Kullu valley without the crowds, Saurkundi Pass is a quiet gem. YHAI runs it as an eleven-day national programme from a base camp at Babeli near Kullu (around 4,000 ft), climbing gradually through forest and farmland into the alpine meadows of the Pir Panjal range.

The pass itself sits at about 12,900 ft. The signature of this trek is its meadows - vast, rolling pastures where you camp under the stars and wake to sunrays breaking over snow-capped peaks. It has the same staged, acclimatisation-friendly structure that makes YHAI treks so beginner-safe.

What to expect

  • Lush, wide meadow campsites in the Pir Panjal
  • A gentle, well-staged climb to a 12,900 ft pass
  • Fewer crowds than the better-known Himachal trails
  • The classic YHAI base-camp and community experience

The YHAI way

Run mainly in May and June, Saurkundi follows the familiar YHAI rhythm: shared camp duties, simple wholesome food, and a medical certificate required before the trail.
