National Munnar Cycling cum Training Expedition 2026 (By Tamil Nadu State Branch)

Six days of cycling through the hills and tea gardens of Munnar. The route climbs from Devikulam to the quiet lake road at Kundala, carries on to the long views from Top Station on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, and turns back for Munnar - adventure, quiet and the natural pull of the high ranges in one ride.

The expedition is organised by the Tamil Nadu State Branch of the Youth Hostels Association of India.

Who Can Participate

• All YHAI members, and new members, aged 13 and above may apply; the booking page lists the valid age band for this expedition as 18 to 65.

How to Reach the Base Camp

• Nearest railway stations: Aluva, Kochi (Ernakulam) and Madurai.
• Nearest airports: Kochi and Madurai.
• A shared or private taxi takes about four hours from Kochi to Munnar. Munnar is well connected to Aluva and Ernakulam.

Safety and Security

Extensive preparation goes into your safety, and field staff and experienced camp leaders visit the area to check every detail. Even so, YHAI cannot be held responsible for accidents, illness or other unforeseen eventualities.

Additional Notes

• Smoking, alcohol and narcotics of any description are strictly prohibited during the programme.
• Staying anywhere other than YHAI accommodation is not allowed for the whole programme.
• This is an environment-friendly programme. Do not litter wrappers or spoil the trail.
• No credit shell policy, and no transfers.

You receive a 50% refund of the participation fee if you cannot join, provided the request reaches us by email, in writing or online at least 10 days before your reporting date. After that no cancellation request is accepted.

If YHAI cancels the programme at short notice - for a government permission issue or a natural cause - participants receive a 100% refund of the fee, though travel costs already incurred cannot be claimed.
