BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM: The fort & town of JAISALMER was founded by Maharawal Jaisal in the year 1156 AD after having shifted his capital from Ludharva (18 Kms away from Jaisalmer) to a safer place. The ruling family of the erstwhile Jaisalmer State belongs to Bhati Clan of Yadu Rajputs of Chandrawasnshi (Lunar) race who claim descent from Lord Krishna,the defied hero who ruled at Dwarka. The historical origin of Bhati can be inferred from the couplet which says that the Yadu Rajputs ruled and constructed Forts at Kashi,Mathura, Pragvad, Gajni,Bhatner,Digam,Dirwal,Lodurva and ninth in Jaisalmer. (Gajni is in Afghanistan and Dirawal is now in Pakistan). This district has got a very important place on The international tourist map. Popularly known as the “Golden City”, it has the following attraction of the tourist importance. Fort & inside fort-Jain Temples & Royal Palace. Patwa Havelies. Salim Singh’s Haveli. Nathmal’s haveli. Mandir Palace (Tazia Tower). Gadisar Lake. Govt. museum & the folk museum. All these monuments have the unique stone carving on yellow stone. The whole city is constructed with yellow stone. Excursions Badabag (Royal Cenotaph, Garden). Amar Sagar. Ludarwa. Mool Sagar. Kuldhara ( Remains of Deserted town hundreds of year ago). Sam Sand Dunes ( The Sunset & Camel Safari are special attraction). Khuri Sand Dunes. Akal Wood fossils Park ( Having 180 million years old wood fossils. Sudhasari ( Desert National Park having the great Indian Bustard and other wild life). Art & Music The two communities viz. ‘Manganiars’ and ‘Langas’ have not only preserved the traditional art & music but they have carried it beyond the domestic shores. The folk Music with traditional instruments and the folk dances are very popular and fascinating. The cultural programmes performed by these artistes have special attraction for the tourists. Safety & Security
- Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of camping program for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have visited the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the youth hostels association of India or its Jaisalmer unit not be responsible for any accident, Illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
- ADDITIONAL NOTES: All Site seeing shall be at your own cost our volunteers will help you in planning your programme.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Any YHAI member can participate on first come first serve basis.
A family consists of husband, wife and two children up to the age of 12 years. Copy of Age proof must be attached with application forms or must be submitted at the time of reporting at the Base Camp. Photographs of the Family Head must be attached on the forms. Third Child will be charged extra.
A single person does not constitute a family and shall not be registered for the camp. Parent of very small children should arrange for their bottle feed.
Photo ID Proof of the head of the family should be attached with the application form, to be produced at the time of reporting at the base camp.
For children above (Above 12 years of age Rs. 2500 per person will be charged. The extra person we will not allow apart from family.
Husband & Wife's membership is mandatory children’s are Above 18 years Membership is Mandatory.
HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP: REPORTING TIME AFTER 7:00 AM
Base Camp for the program is established at The Border Home Guard Ground, Jaisalmer 2 KM from Bus stand and 4 KM from Railway Station. Jaisalmer is connected by train service with Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hawra, Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner. It is also connected by Road with delhi, ahmedabad, kutch, pune, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer & Udaipur. Regular Flight from :- Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Delhi & Jaipur.
HOW TO JOIN: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on a prescribed Registration Form Duly
supported by Medical Certificate which is available from Units/State Branches and National Office.

ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:- One tent at Base camp shall be given to each family. Ground sheet, blankets, bed sheet & pillow shall be provided.
Food & Water Supplies
- Morning tea, Breakfast, lunch/Pack lunch, evening tea and dinner shall be provided. Simple Vegetarian, good quality nutritious food shall be served at the camp. Please bring Tiffin box for pack lunch etc.
- Note :-- Special Rajasthani Dishes in Dinner. Dal Bati churma, Bajra Roti churma, Ker Sangari (Lonji), Besan Gutta Sabji, Mirchi Methi Sabji, Sweet Panchdhari, Besan Barfi.
- WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG: Woolen Jersey & muffler cotton cloths, sun cap, water bottle, lunch box, mug-glass, plate, spoon, soap, Toilet paper, towel, medicines ( which you normally use) cameras .

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Method
- Participants booked online must cancel online a minimum of 05 days prior to the reporting date.
- Participants booked offline must email trekking@yhaindia.org a minimum of 05 days prior to the reporting date.
- Requests received less than 05 days before the reporting date are not eligible for credit shell or refund.
Credit Shell
- 100% credit shell of the participation fee, valid till 31st December 2026, usable on any YHAI adventure programme.
- If the next programme is cheaper, the balance can be used on another trek; if costlier, pay the difference.
- Seats may be transferred to family or friends (transferred seats cannot be re-transferred or cancelled).
Refund
- Alternatively, participants may opt for a 50% refund instead of the 100% credit shell, subject to the same notice conditions.
Note: If a programme is cancelled due to natural calamity, government restriction or withdrawal of permission, YHAI is accountable only for the programme fee and not for other expenses incurred by participants.
